About Us

For as long as I can remember I have watched my sister create beautiful, amazing things and it has always filled me with a strong desire to do the same.  As I grew older I began to explore the crafting world and found immense satisfaction in learning and creating, and I discovered a love (obsession?) for color.  Regardless of the medium I’m working with, I just have to have the materials in every color imaginable!

For years now, packing for any trip (but especially a family visit) has meant also packing “stuff to do.”  Every visit with my sister seems to center on sharing what we’ve been working on and spending time creating together.  We just love making things, and learning from each other.

Over the years my sister and I have both made intermittent efforts to market our creations – with varying degrees of success.  Selling things has never been a major focus for either of us so it’s  difficult to put in the amount of work required for marketing (when we’d rather be making something).  Eventually, it hit me that we should put our minimal efforts together and see if it adds up to something!  I started thinking about how my own crafting journey has been so inspired and constantly fueled by watching my sister create, and how as we continue our journeys the inspiration is growing mutual… and My Sister’s Hands was born. 🙂

Let’s see, I’m a christian, married, mother of three grown sons. I’ve been sewing for over 40 years. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in art. I design and do nearly all fiber related arts, including yarn spinning, weaving, crochet, knitting, embroidery, cross-stitch, quilting, decorative and garment sewing, garment alterations. I design and make beaded jewelry. I design and make antique reproductions and primitive dolls. I am proficient in most paper arts, including art stamping, card-making and scrapbooking. I can teach all of the above. My house is full to bursting with the results of all these activities and the supplies and tools for it all. I love reading, music and attending church. I love the colors and textures and patterns of God’s creation and man’s creation. I’ve never put all this down on “paper” before!

After being married for 11 years and raising a beautiful stepdaughter, now I’m on my own with my dog Jesse.  Starting over in an awesome town, going back to school (Health Information Management), and trying to find time to make All The Things.  Oh, and occasionally binging on Netflix and mmo gaming. 🙂
